My Thoughts:

I really liked the character development in this book. In the first book that I read by Sasha White, Bound, I was a bit irritated by Katie. White definitely creates female characters that are experiencing significant upheaval in their lives and don’t believe that they can handle commitment. I liked the way the author handles this here. At the beginning of this book, Samair Jones has just arrived at her friend’s place of work – club Risque. She has quit her dead end job; broken up with her cheating boyfriend and moved out of the apartment she shared with the woman who was cheating with her boyfriend. At the club, she meets Valentine Ward and is immediately drawn to him.

Samair and Val have an interesting relationship – one that I enjoyed watching unfold. Samair starts out looking for a good time. Val promises to fulfill all of her fantasies (and I think does a wonderful job of doing just that – the steamy sections were well done). However, as the book progresses, neither can deny that they are becoming more and more involved. They each have to deal with their baggage – Val’s ex-wife, Samair’s new business, etc. I think they deal well with their problems. After reading this, I am definitely looking forward to reading Sasha White’s latest release, Wicked – I was quite intrigued by Karl Dawson who is the main character in this next book. Fortunately I have it in hand and am ready to dig in!
