Description from book:
Three of London’s most admired and desired ladies – these women share more in common than grace, beauty, and charm . . . together they are three of England’s greatest spies.
From the Desk of Lady M
Daring, beautiful, and fiercely intelligent, Emily Redgrave has always seemed to me to be invincible. But after her recent encounter with a deadly assassin, I believe it is best for both Emily and this agency if her next assignment poses less risk of harm to her nimble body.
Her mission: She must do everything in her power to defend Grant Ashbury, the very powerful – and very handsome – Lord Westfield, against the nameless, faceless enemies who seek his utter destruction. Unbeknownst to Emily, Grant will be engaged in his own mission for the Crown – to protect her.
Potential difficulties: Destined to chase eachother in circles around London, Emily and Grant will be easily frustrated . . . and easily distracted by every flicker of passion between the. Though it could put them in danger, a seduction will be nearly impossible to resist.
I have been following Jenna Petersen’s Lady Spies series since the first installment, Lessons from London, was published. I like the concept and have enjoyed reading about the lady spies finding true love – mostly with other spies. However, Seduction is Forever is by far my favorite of the three. Emily was shot in the second book. Her friends and her superiors don’t believe she is ready to go back into the field. To humor her, they give her a mission to watch Grant Ashbury, Lord Westfield. Little does she know, Grant also works for the War Department and is dealing with his own issues. His superiors have asked him to watch over and protect Emily.
It doesn’t take Emily long for figure out that Grant is a fellow spy and that something isn’t quite right with her assignment. However, by this point, she has stumbled upon a plot against the prince. She decides that she and Grant need to solve this new case. Hopefully, foiling an assassination attempt would help to prove her fit for active service. Grant agrees, although he does find it difficult to allow Emily to fully participate in the investigation. Matters are a bit complicated by the fact that both agree to give into their desire for each other and have an affair for the duration of their investigation.
I absolutely loved Emily and Grant together. They are both a bit wounded and really seem to need each other. They work well together and both seem to overcome their fears. I will say that my favorite character has to be Lady Westbrook – Grant’s mother. I hadn’t expected to learn more about the mysterious Lady M, but was thrilled with this storyline. I was a bit sad that this was the last book in the series, but know I can read the again if I want.
