Description from book:

Midnight Misbehavior

Carolyn Turner, Viscountess Wingate, is absolutely shocked by the Ladies Literary Society of London’s latest selection. Memoirs of a Mistressis scandalously explicit and downright wicked . . . and it’s stirring feelings within Carolyn that she hasn’t felt . . . well, ever! She’s sure that this steamy read is the only reason she’s succumbing to the charms of notorious rogue Daniel Sutton, Lord Surbrooke. She couldn’t possibly be falling for his illicit caresses . . . or could she?

The last thing Daniel wanted was to be shackled by marriage vows. He lusted after Carolyn, sure, but never imagined that once he lured her to his bed he’d never want to let her go. Yet when a murderer targets his beloved will he be spurred to confess his true love . . . and claim Carolyn as his bride.

My Thoughts:

This story held me in thrall from the first paragraph. I have to say that it is, at this point, my favorite book by Jacquie D’Alessandro (not that any of them have been bad). I absolutely loved Carolyn – a young widow who was determined to remain true to her late husband. Her resolve is challenged first, by the book that she is reading with her literacy society, Memoirs of a Mistress, and second, by Daniel Sutton, Lord Surbrooke. Reading the book – and seeing her newlywed sister’s obvious happiness – makes Carolyn start to think about what she is missing.

Meanwhile, Daniel Sutton is ready to make a move. He was smitten with Carolyn the first time that he saw her, at her engagement ball. Now that Carolyn is a widow, and one who is starting to live again, Daniel can’t stay away from her. Of course, there are complications – someone seems to be murdering former paramours of Lord Surbrooke. Daniel is, of course, the prime suspect. However, the danger does turn Carolyn’s way. Fortunately, the real murderer is discovered and Carolyn and Daniel find true love. I thought this was a wonderful story!
