Description from book:

They are a new breed, a new race. Engineered rather than born, trained rather than raised, and their unique genetics have created more than one surprise…

Jacob left Faith six years before, unaware that the mark he left on her also left her in an agony of sexual heat that never dimmed. Now Jacob and Faith are together again, but surprises lurk around every corner and dangers as dark and deadly as their very creation surround them in more ways than one.

My Thoughts:

I’m a sucker for stories with reunited lovers – even when macho men decide all on their own that their women are too young and innocent for them. In this story, Faith is given a powerful aphrodisiac and put into Jacob’s cell. They are both part of genetic experiments conducted in secret – and as such live as captives in a lab. Jacob does give into his desire for Faith, understanding that he has little choice in the matter. However, during their limited time together, the lab is attacked. Jacob flees, not realizing that he has marked Faith as his mate – leaving her to suffer alone though years of mating heat.

During their time apart, Faith changes from the innocent young girl into someone who has been hardened by the world. Wolfe, their pack leader, decides it is time for the two to deal with each other. He sends Faith after Jacob who is working to take down another lab in South America. There Jacob and Faith have to deal with each other – and the years that have left Faith frustrated and alone. Their relationship is not an easy one. Faith has no intention of giving in to Jacob – even though he is her mate. I love how she fights with everything she has to get her coffee and beer, despite how they negatively impact the symptoms of the mating heat.

So far, I am enjoying all of the stories in the Breeds series – including this one. I will say that I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of Aidan’s Charity after reading the epilogue of Jacob’s Faith.
