Castles – Julie Garwood

Julie Garwood. Castles. (New York: Pocket Books, 1993). 0671744208.

Main Characters: Princess Alesandra and Colin.

Related Works: Castles is fourth in this series: The Lion’s Lady with Lyon, The Marquis of Lyonwood and Christina Bennett (Princess Christina) is the first. Guardian Angel is the second with Jade Baker and Caine, Marquess of Cainewood. The Gift, with Nathan Clayton Hawthorn Baker, the Marquess of St. James (Jade Baker’s brother),  and Lady Sara Winchester is the third. The last is Castles which is the story of Colin, the Marquess of Cainewood’s brother, and Princess Alesandra.

Description from book:

Orphaned and besieged, Princess Alesandra knew that only a hasty marriage to an Englishman could protect her from turmoil in her own land. To the amusement of her makeshift guardian, Colin, younger brother of the Marquess of Cainewood, the bold, raven haired beauty instantly captivated London society. But when Alesandra was nearly abducted by her unscrupulous countrymen, the fighting instincts that won Colin a knighthood for valor were rekindled.

Deceiving himself that he wanted only to protect her, Colin swept her into a union meant to be a marriage in name alone . . . yet Alesandra’s tender first kiss and hesitant caress ignited a wildfire in his soul. As the lovely princess dashed headlong into unforeseen dangers, Colin would follow, knowing he must claim her as his own forever. Now he would risk life itself before he would lose this sweet tempestuous angel . . .

My Thoughts:

I love this book. It is probably my second favorite in the series behind Guardian Angel. Flanaghan, the young butler and nephew of Sterns from Guardian Angel is absolutely hysterical as he falls all over himself to please the princess.
