A Notorious Love – by Sabrina Jeffries

Sabrina Jeffries. A Notorious Love (New York: Avon Books, 2001) 0380818035.

Main characters:Daniel Brennan, “Danny Boy,” Lady Helena Laverick.

Series:Swanlea Spinster Series. Also includes A Dangerous Love, After the Abduction, Dance of Seduction & Married to the Viscount.

Description from the book:

Lady Helena Laverick is at her wit’s end!

The only man who can help find her eloping young sister is Daniel Brennan-the one-time smuggler and seductive scoundrel who brazenly toyed with Helena’s affection a year ago. There is certainly nothing applicable in Mrs. Nunley’s Guide to Etiquette for Young Ladies for the situation-so Helena is forced to seek the runaway in Daniel’s company . . . while enjoying the delicious tingle warning her that more than her reputation may be in danger.

Daniel feels oh-so-proper Helena’s cherished rules of behavior are ridiculous-yet the vulnerability he senses behind her cool control excited him . . . and the unexpected passion smoldering beneath her straightlaced exterior makes him want her even more! But Helena is a lady and he’s a highwayman’s son-how could he ever expect to share his world?

My Thoughts:

I enjoyed this book. I liked the relationship the develops between Helena and Daniel as they travelled across England to save Helena’s sister from Jolly Roger Crouch – the notorious smuggler. I’m pretty sure that I have read the first novel in the Swanlea Spinster Series, A Dangerous Love (story of Griffith Knighton and Rosalind Laverick) and the third, After the Abduction (Juliet Laverick’s and Sebastian Blakely, Baron Templemore’s story), but I don’t really remember them. I may have to go back and put them on my list of books to read again.
