My Thoughts:
With every book that I read in Cole’s Immortals After Dark, I find myself enjoying the series more and more. This paranormal world of faeries, vampires, valkyries, and lykae is making more sense to me. I didn’t have to read the information at the back of the book about the lore once while I read A Hunger Like No Other.
It is a bit bizarre because I’m not sure how to categorize my reaction to this book. I think that Lachlain might be my favorite hero from this series so far, and yet, this might be my least favorite book of the series (which doesn’t mean I didn’t like it). Additionally, I loved Emma. She really came into her own as this story unfolded. The scene where she confronts her father, the vampire Demestriu, was quite poignant. But overall, I had some mixed reactions. I found the early part of the book a bit tough to get through. When Lachlain finds Emma in Paris, their interactions are very bizarre. He is still very out of it from having been kept in some type of fire pit by a vampire – and Emma seems to be very afraid of him. I really didn’t know what to make of their early time together. I liked their relationship much better once they made it to Lachlain’s castle in Scotland.
Regardless, I am very much looking forward to upcoming books in this series!
